New Tarmac Rallysprint Postponed

Thames Valley Car Club and MotorSport Bay of Plenty are dissapointed to advise of a postponement in date for their new Tarmac Rallysprint at Golden Cross, Waihi.

Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication between the Clubs and Hauraki District Council, they have not granted the road closure for the requested date of 12 July.  This has led to a rescheduling of the event and the Clubs can confirm that 16 August is now the date for the event.

This extra lead time should allow more competitors the opportunity to enter this new event, which features an excellent surface, very technical public road up to the old Golden Cross Mine just north of Waihi.  Route plotting was completed in fine weather and it was agreed the road is pretty fast.  However route checking was completed a couple of weeks ago when it was -4 degrees at Waihi and the checker advises the road will be very tricky if it's cold and/or wet, with several sections over the length of the road showing ice.  There is no doubt this will be a challenging course for all competitors, especially in the down and back format the clubs have proposed.

See www.tmmc.org.nz for regs and entry form and don't hesitate to contact either David Loughlin 021 917 866 or Michelle Clark 021 636 068 for any further information.
