Coulthard Up For Top End Battle

Coulthard Up For Top End Battle

05 Jul 2008
Glenfords Racing's Fabian Coulthard is again looking forward to battling at the pointy end of the field at the Top End in the Skycity Triple Crown for round six of the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship at Hidden Valley Raceway (Darwin, NT), this weekend.
Making his second V8 Supercar excursion to Darwin, Coulthard has high expectations of another solid points haul in the Glenfords Falcon and has no concern for the often extreme Darwin heat.

Currently sitting 13th in the championship standings, Coulthard is eager to reclaim a place in the top ten, and will be pushing hard to ensure he climbs back up the order this weekend.

Well equipped to make his move up the ladder, Coulthard will have the benefit of a car with a proven track record at the Hidden Valley circuit as he pilots the car that Craig Lowndes drove to victory at last year's Darwin event.

Between rounds, Coulthard has been keeping busy with Glenfords store appearances, and also working on a new personal website to be launched in time for the Darwin event, which can be viewed at www.fabian-coulthard.com.

The Skycity Triple Crown will roar into action at Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway on 4-6 July.

DRIVER #111 – Fabian Coulthard
"I've only raced at Hidden Valley twice - once in the Porsche and once in a V8 - I like it, it's a good circuit.

"At this track it's obviously important to have good drive because it's got such a long straight, and it's quite technical in places as well, so I'll have to work closely with my engineer, Leigh, to maximise our speed across the entire circuit.

"We've consistently shown we have good car speed and I certainly think we should be in the top ten this weekend, like we deserved to be for the last three or four rounds.

"At the AGP this year, we raced in 43 degrees which puts the cabin temp well above 60, so I'm not concerned about the heat at Darwin; that's what we do all the training for, to be fit enough to handle the extreme physical conditions in the car.

"We're well prepared; we've worked hard between Sandown and Darwin to make sure we've got everything right and hopefully we'll be fighting fit and ready for another top ten."

TEAM PRINCIPAL - Paul Cruickshank
"We had that engine drama at Sandown and that's all been rectified by Stone Brothers, so we're looking forward to Darwin.

"As a team we are having a really positive year and exceeding a lot of expectations and I'm quite confident about this weekend; I genuinely believe it will be another strong round for us; we've got a good car package that will be strong pretty much everywhere we go now.

"This car actually won the Darwin round last year with Craig Lowndes, so without putting the too much stress on that, I've got a lot of belief in both our car and driver that we can come away with another positive result.

"Based on what we've done this year, the Hidden Valley circuit will suit Fabian's driving style and the car.

"Everything is just progressing along nicely for the team, we're getting into focusing on the enduros and every race we're doing offers such valuable knowledge that we can collect for later on in the year."
