1st Anniversary
Well who would have guessed that one year has gone by since we took over the running of Targa. They say that time flies when you are having fun and while it has not always been plain sailing the ride to this point has been very enjoyable as Vicki and I have got to know you better. We have meet some wonderful people who continually give their time without question. It is this passion that makes Targa what it is and we would like to thank you all for your continued support. We have listened to your input and made changes where appropriate, we have seen a hugh changes in the world economy that has effected us all. The strong will survive and the determined will get there so keep looking at the positives and enjoy life while we can, because one thing is for sure none of us are getting any younger.

15th Anniversary
We have just completed the plotting for the 15th Dunlop Targa, in seven days we have traveled 4200kms around the North Island over many roads that I have never been on before and some old favorites that I am sure you will enjoy. We are able to confirm the over night stops as follows, Manukau City, Taupo, New Plymouth, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Wellington, a full intinary will be posted on the website.

Targa Rotorua
Keith and Gina have been out door knocking the stages and getting very good feed back from the locals because we are not running the event over "gipsy" weekend. You may remember that last year we had to change the dates to accommodate Motorsport NZ and unknowingly the date was moved to the 1st June which is the day that sharemilkers move farms, "gipsy day" and closing roads during this time caused all sorts of problems for stock trucks and farmers. We promised never to run our event again over that weekend. Entries are coming along well with over 60 already, so if you are not registered yet please get in touch with Mandy or give me a call at the office. We have over 330 kms of special stages so it is not for the faint hearted.

Interislander Bookings
If you need to get across the Cooks Strait for any Motorsport event then have we got a deal for you. International Motorsport Services have been appointed as an official booking agent for interislander crossings for Motorsport Teams, so if you want to take advantage of the great deals then contact Tony Hirst on tony@internationalmotorsport.co.nz or 027 726 7779.

Whitianga Festival of Speed
This weekend is the inaugural event that Leigh and Stacy Hopper are organising and we will have a present there. They have set up a 3km special stage and are calling for any interested Targa competitors to come and have a go. It is free and should be lots of fun with both sea and air speed shows as well. If you want some more information visit the website www.whitiangafos.co.nz then click on the program, then call me to confirm your interest.

Drive New Zealand Classic
Roger Phillips of Lotus Cars NZ has created the Drive NZ Classis Tour which covers both North and South Islands in a 17 day tour. For more information check out the website www.drivenzclassic.com  This is limited to 50 entrants and is aimed at international visitors along similar lines to the NARVA Tour, however there are opportunities for locals to participate in all or parts of the event. It is due to finish the day before the Dunlop Targa starts so entrants can then compete in the 15th Anniversary.

That's all for now.

Peter and the Targa Team.
